I try to recommend new releases the week they are released. Some albums slip by me, though, and deserve recognition once I’ve heard them. This is one of those albums.
Peasant the musical name Damien DeRose uses to release his music. His previous albums, including On the Ground, had more of a singer-songwriter aesthetic. He still keeps the best quality of his earlier, intimate style – strong lyrics and an acoustic guitar base – but on Bound for Glory, he has made a fully fleshed out band album. The instrumentation, which never overdoes it, is a nice addition to his catchy melodies and tranquil voice.
