Adios Amigo is the music of Johnny Major. He recorded all of the instruments on the band’s first, self-titled EP and formed a band to play live shows. On Dos, the follow-up shortplayer, Major is now backed by the band. These five songs move through many different genres and styles and have a variety of different instrumentation. The opening track, “Colony’s Dead,” is built upon melodic electric guitar lines. “Chicken,” which can be downloaded above, follows with a combination of acoustic guitar, sustained bass, banjo, and brushed snare drum. “Never Forget” moves from a percussive, Latin influenced song to an uptempo lo-fi dream pop. The rest of the EP expands on the lush, electric guitar tones. In each song, Major’s cajoled voice and catchy melodies find a way to connect all the various sounds.
