James Toth has released an abundant amount of music, mostly under the name Wooden Wand. The majority of his previous albums have been acoustic based, melding experimental folk and rock. For this new album, however, he put together a full band, now called the Briarwood Virgins, and made a guitar-driven rock and roll album. Recorded in Alabama, it has a relaxed feel that perfectly complements Toth’s vocal drawl.
