Nick Delffs is the singer and guitarist of the Portland band The Shaky Hands. This week he release of a self-titled EP under the name of Death Songs. The project’s name, which may have morbid connotations, is a reference to a Native American tradition where death songs celebrate a person’s life. The songs were recorded during spontaneous recording sessions with his brother, Nathan, who is a member of The Castanets and Forest Fire, and whoever else happened to be nearby. The result is a poignant set of tangible acoustic-based music.
