Laura Marling’s first two albums were nominated for UK’s Mercury Prize, which speaks of the quality of her folk based music. On her third album, she teamed with producer Ethans Johns (who also produced last’s years I Speak Because I Can). Her voice and compositions continue to sound more mature on each record. On A Creature I Don’t Know, she sounds like a contemporary Joni Mitchell. Marling showcases an impressive vocal range and the music is appealingly layered, creating a deceptively complex album that flows with a natural ease.
