Blitzen Trapper continues to deliver the catchy folk rock sound that has made them a favorite at TWSIS (in 2008 & 2009). The music sound owes as much to classic rock as country and folk music. Some of the songs on this album, like “Love the Way You Walk Away,” recreate the sound that has become synonymous with the band while “You Crying Eyes” and “Street Fighting Sun” take on a harder ‘70s rock style. The sextet layers acoustic, electric, and slide guitars, piano, banjo, and harmonica with gated drums that give the songs a pristine percussive sound. Eric Earley’s vocals have a wild but controlled swagger over top the musical concoction.
