Army Navy self-released their debut album in 2008. They return with their sophomore album, The Last Place, also released on their own label, The Fever Zone. The trio from L.A. is fronted by Justin Kennedy, who shared vocal duties with a young Ben Gibbard in the punk band Pinwheel. The songs on this album are guitar-driven, varying between jangly and assertive. But nearly every track is a nugget of infectious pop. Produced by Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yea, Yo La Tengo, Clem Snide) and mastered by Greg Calbi (Okkervil River, Iron & Wine, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear), The Last Place is a catchy batch of indie rock.
