Pink Strat, Afie Jurvanen’s debut album under the name Bahamas, was released in Canada in 2009. After picking up nominations for the Polaris Prize and the Juno Awards, the album is finally being released in the US. The guitarist, who has toured as a hired picker for Broken Social Scene solo artists like Jason Collett, Feist, and Amy Milan, creates affecting pop music that would not be out of place on an iPod with those aforementioned members of BSS.
The Elected – Bury Me in My Rings | CD

The Elected is the band of former Rilo Kiley member, Blake Sennett. After withdrawing from music, Sennett is surprisingly back with a new set of catchy songs that mix the mellifluous pop styling of The Elected’s previous two albums with a bit of ‘70s flair.

Chad VanGaalen skitters between folk and electronica. With Diaper Island, his acoustic guitar and unique tones are still prevalent, but the songs have a quality that almost makes this album a rock record.
