This is the domestic release of the Australian singer-songwriter’s latest album, which already won her the ARIA for Best Female Artist. Produced by Bjorn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn & John), the album uses an eclectic palette of organic instruments to create a solid folk-based album.

This is the second full-length album, and third overall, from Bottomless Pit, which includes former members of Silkworm. The quartet’s instrumentation of drums, bass, and standard and baritone guitar gives the band a dense post-punk sound while the vocals have the ability to channel Stephen Malkmus at times.

Beachcomber’s Windowsill is full of catchy songs. The music has the layered quality that garnishes some of the finest folk-based Britpop. The UK quartet also stacks the vocal harmonies on this succulent debut album.

I've been getting ready for my "best of the year" wrap up and listening to albums I missed when they were released. Dan Mangan's Nice, Nice, Very Nice lives up to its name. If I had heard it this week, when it was released, it definitely would have made the list above.
