Here are The Wheel’s Still In Spin’s suggested new releases for the first week of 2009. It’s a short list of new releases and here’s the brightest spot:

This Glasgow band originally released their self-titled debut in the UK in September of last year. This week sees the album officially released here in the States. This grandiloquent pop album understandably garnered a lot of praise and awards in the UK. There’s some grit in the vocals behind the reverb. The drums are accentuated by tom pounding and the guitars are melodic and layered with delay and fuzz.
