This debut EP was scheduled to be digitally released today, but the band pushed it up and it was released on Jan 6. Evening Magazine has a multi-layered pop sound. With horns, keyboards, guitars, and prudent percussion, the album has an omnisciently individual quality. These songs are well developed and superbly produced.

Casey Meehan founded Rock Proper, an online music distributor that releases music under Creative Commons licenses. This means they provide “high quality, album-length downloads with the legal consent of their creators. Please download this music, burn it, share it…” Now Jitney, Meehan’s own project, is the latest to get the Rock Proper treatment. Meehan plays most of the music on this catchy rock album, but is supported by some incredibly solid drummers and the occasional guest bass player, including David Vandervelde on one track.
Loney, Dear – Dear John | CD

Loney, Dear is the name Emil Svanängen uses for the releases of music he records in his apartment. Like his Sub Pop release, Loney Noir, this new release has an ensorcelling synthesis of folk rock and keyboard influenced pop. Somehow, with each of his recordings, Loney, Dear seems to perfect his unique blend of indie folk.

Peasant is the musical cloak of Damien DeRose. This album is, at its core, a sincere singer songwriter with an acoustic guitar. The songs are subtly flushed out with additional guitars and the occasional keyboard or piano part. There is a beautiful intimacy to these songs.
