As the end of the year draws near, there are usually very few strong new releases. Of the albums I listened to that come out this week, not one has stood out. Instead of making any recommendations of this week's new releases, I'm just going to include the list after the jump.
If you can recommend any of these albums, leave a comment.

All the way from Montclair, NJ to Memphis. Jake Rabinbach found a home for himself and a birthing place for Jump Back Jake. A great Memphis inspired record! Don't think he would have found players with this kind of feel anywhere else.

Impressive debut! Finally... someone has truly brought back the soul!

Dangit, this record's got soul! And some bad attitude, dirty south storytelling!

Being a bit older, I remember well the REAL soul feel as opposed to the wannabe soul feel. How these young guys got the REAL soul feel must come from soulful spirits and a true love for that funky thang. It's amazing when that love combines with the technology of today. Kinda makes it like finding a new in the case 1957 Stratocaster guitar. No belt buckle scratches. PLUS there are no pops and ticks!

This was one of the most inspiring record-making experiences I could ever hope to be a part of. Jake's songs and the bands' intensity and tightness made the pre-production and recording process a true non-stop pleasure...and that is rare.

Two very nice articles about Jump Back Jake and a brief history of Ardent Records and the new label Ardent Music. Thanks to Bob And Chris for the local support.

The new Jump Back Jake record is great! I think it is a fine way to bring back this part of the Ardent label. Excellent work by all the players, Pete and Nick. They all put a lot of love into making this record and you can tell when you hear it.
